Ironman, my Y2K Kodiak did the same thing and I cleaned the button switch and everything work fine. Then it did it again and the wire in the button shortered out. I had to replace the switch button w/ wire harness and all. Been orking fine ever since. Hope this will help you on your 02 Grizz. I hoping for the kodiak to come out with that locking diff.
