when ever i do a hard turn and really spin my tires my chain is popping, im sure the slack is right, i think i might have bent my skid plate and its hitting, any ideas?

well if your sure the chain is adjusted properly then all i can think of would be some teeth missing on the sprocket. but if your not too sure about the chain tension then i would tighten it up a bit and see if it stops

Check your front sprocket to see if it is worn. Also check your swingarm bearings by jacking the rear of the quad off the ground. Grab the axle near one of the tires and try to move it around. Look closely for play in either your axle bearings or swingarm bearings. Sound like your sprockets might be coming out of alignment almost causing your chain to pop off.

Yea, or that 2nd gear problem. You might be one of the experienced riders who never learned to shift properly that Yamaha mentions.

I had a similar noise after about 6 months. Placing it on stands and running it in gear, I thought it might be the front sprocket but after using a stethescope, I traced it to the lower chain roller. The bearing was worn out and falling apart. It was letting it pop and rattle. The roller was eaten up by the chain because it was not spinning. After a closer look, I found the top roller was eat up also but the bearing was still in place but not in good shape. I replaced both rollers and bearings and have had no trouble since. I did not use Yahama bearings. I had some left over roller blades wheels and the sealed bearing were a perfect fit. That has been almost a year now.

My old one did the same thing. It sounded and felt like the chain was jumping over a worn tooth. Just a little "pop pop pop", and only in the lower gears. It was the tranny. It just kept getting worse and worse. I recommend checking it out asap!
