When starting my raptor if I touch the throttle it will cough and hesitate before it starts. Is this normal or is some of the jetting incorrect? If I don't touch the throttle it starts fine, but when starting harescrambles its hard to not touch the throttle too quick. I have rejetted the mains to 160/165 (I think) and I have 27.5 pilots in. I have a HMF slip-on and a K&N filter with snorkle mods to airbox.

I would say that your jetting is a little rich on the pilots based on the mods you have listed. How many turns out are you on the pilot screws? Also, the carbs do not have accelerator pumps and they are CVs so touching the throttle should not pose a problem. When I do the dead engine start on a harescramble, I sit with the throttle wide open, hit the button and as soon as I feel the revs come up a little, I dump the clutch and I have not had any problems.

I think the screws are out 2 1/4 but I will have to find my notes to make sure. Isn't there some sort of a starter jet in one of the carbs? What is it used for. Would you reccomend going to 25 pilots?

mine does it too. i wouldnt worry about it too much. at least the carbs have stayed on so far. its sound like the starter is going to blow out of the side and it pops through the airbox. it dont look too good when it does that in front of all your buddies either. mine is still stock too.

I would try the 25's at 2 1/2 to 3 turns out. As far as I know, there is not a starter jet or accelerator pump on the carbs.
