I checked the length of the PD shifter and it's about 1/2" longer than the stock shifter. I'm going to ride this weekend so I'll report back monday. One of my friends got one of the roll shifters that didn't fit and it was almost 1" shorter.

Does the UMI have two u joints in the kit or just the one ? If only one how does it eliminate the other stock u-joint ?

I finally got to go for a good day of riding (any day of riding is good!!). I LIKE the shifter. I tried to pay attention to the shifter and how it shifted. I thought it was a more positive shift and feel, I didn’t notice any extra shift throw when riding (as slappie said I would). I would recommend this to anyone for the way it works and also the looks. I would think that ANY linkage would have more play.

Good reply swifty. I'm glad it worked well. The UMI shifter does only come with 1 UJoint and the other one is stock. There really is not any play in this joint. The only play left in the shift mechanism is the slight in and out movement of the shift shaft when transitioning from up to down. But, as swifty said, there is probably some more play than a direct mount shifter where there is nothing for play to develp in. I was waiting on the Pro-Design shifter and didn't know when it would come out. Every time I called it was "two weeks". I am happy with my purchase, as is swifty with his. Have fun and in the end, riding is all that counts!

Slappie, I called Prodesign & bought it direct, very nice people, they got plenty in stock, mine should arrive today, got a decent discount too, I wasn't supposed to mention that but they gave me the discount based upon fact I would give them some positive pr. Anyway, I looked at the situation & from what I see the linkage only adds play, not decreases it, look for yourselves & watch as you move the stock shifter & see how the shaft moves less than the shifter. The only way I could see a linkage system reducing play is if it had gears!?
Anyway, I'll let you guys know my 2 cents when I get a chance to try it out.

mine should show today as well...does anyone have the GYTR shifter. is it the same length as the stock? the only problem with the pro design being shorter than the stock is if your nerf bars that mount in front of the foot peg. i have graydons and it was tight enough with MX boots(size11)and the stock shifter. i'll be sure to respond about the fit as well....gytr shifter owners please respond!

The ProDesign shifter is not shorter than stock, it is about 3/8" to 1/2" longer. This should help all of us with big feet (boots)

I bought a msr bandshee shifter from
rocky mtn. with a spring loaded toe
part and bend it in a vise a little
and it works great and only cost $20.00
had it on for 2 weeks no problems shifts
good f.y.i.
