I am primarily looking to get the stock swingarm lengthened. I know the longer aftermarker ones are available. I'm just trying to save some cash as I have an extra stock swingarm. I'm looking for a shop to do the work. If you know of someone who sells the aftermarket units at a reasonable price I would appreciate that info too.

Thanks

If you havent noticed the stock swingarm on a 400ex is longer then the Raptor. I have been looking at http://www.speedracingproducts.com/ and the American Star Racing - Swing arms for 499.95. Bearing are included. Also while you are there take a look at Pivot Works rear shock bearing kits. 34.95. Its a good idea to change these when you are changing the geometry of the rear end.

I don't recommend lengthening the stock swingarm. Mine cracked around the right front pivot point where the side rails meet the pivot bearing case, and so did my mates. I got that welded up and lengthened the rear 50mm at the same time. The front cracked again and the rear completely broke off, only holding together by the skid plate. Lucky I didn't kill myself. I ended up getting a LSR plus 1" baja setup. I also cracked the front cross member on that (it was the early square section cross member setup, which has now been superceded with a round front cross member and added gusseting). A tip also is to put 2 needle pivot bearings on each side of the swing arm (helps spread the load) and dump the nylon bearing(total useless). ps Lone star replaced with a new unit. A big thank you there. I've also added 6mm 90 degree grease zerks to the LSR front pivot cases as I ride wet conditions. No moisture in there now destroying the needle bearings.

I have cracked mine in the same place twice. I also replaced the nylon bushings with the needle bearings. I am looking for a swingarm but can't quite choak $850 down for a new one. I saw one on e-bay for cheap but it was bad timing for me.

Are you guys saying that the main piviot(the one that goes through the rear of the motor) has nylon bushings? Not needle bearings? Ive never taken mine apart. Pretty lame if they are nylon.
