Was told today that Yamaha is not only pushing the Warrior, Wolverine, and Kodiak out the door, but the Banshee as well!!!!

We have known for a while that there is a replacement for the Warrior, Wolverine, and Kodiak,...but the Banshee?? Whats up here?

My sales rep seemed as surprised as we were. He said that he hasn't had any confirmation of the Banshee being discontinued, BUT he also says that the Banshee isn't on the list of returning models for '03 that he has so far. He said nothing is concrete till the '03 models are publicly announced later on. He has nothing more or less.

I was just wondering if any of you guys have dealers who have been told the same thing?? Doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I'm a fourstroker, but am curious still the same.

No. Yamaha will release SOME info on new models next week, but the majority of the release news will come till this Fall. The same time Honda releases their info. I look for Yamaha to keep it under wraps until then.

The sales rep says that he THINKS the Warrior will continue as an '03 model, but not after that. We told him to not worry about us ordering any '03 Warriors if they do continue on. We haven't sold but two in the past year. It's all been about 400EXs, Raptors, and Cannondales for us in the past year. Blaster sales are also on a decline with the Banshee falling at the very bottom of the sport sales list at Yamaha.

I was just wondering who else had heard this from their dealers. This doesn't really relate to new models. Just the demise of one.

I would seriously doubt that Yamaha would discontinue to produce the Banshee, when it's been the hottest selling ATV since 1987. I bought a new Banshee last week and could only get the price down $200.00. The sales man never once mentioned that this was the last year for the Banshee, he did say that he didn't have any more on order for the 2002 models however he had 3 more Warriors arriving in next week. This could be a sign. There were 4 Banshee's on the floor the day before I bought mine, the next day there was only one and I bought it. I could see the Raptor replacing the Warrior if sales were down on it. Time will tell.

Interesting topic. You know that this is going to leed to one of those "well my buddy said that Yamaha's gonna have this and that" when it doesn't sound like anyone knows much at all yet. It does however get my mind wondering on what it/they could be replaced with. I wouldn't make any speculations on any new models but normaly when Yamaha comes out with something its has great potenttial. I am not saying the best, ie Raptor R&D, but fast or agresize. Yamaha, to me, often comes out with something right at the top of the class.

I would kind of hate to see the banshee disappear. It is what got me into atving in the first place. I really wish they would update it some and then I might buy another one just to have around.

But, I kind of think the 2 stroke is going the way of the dinosaur.

RAPTOR to REPLACE THE WARRIOR??!!!!! WHAT??????

THE Banshee USED to be the leading seller, but not too many people are snagging up new ones nowadays. I can Honestly see them dropping it, heck, how can they expect to keep selling them when they have been unchanged for EVER. Unless they plan on updating it, Its gonna go bye-bye. And since we all would like to see them update it, I'd say its as good as gone....

My brothers Yammy dealer tols us last week when we there picking up a swing arm bearing for his banshee that there is a dealer show in Vegas and they were introducing a 400cc to 450cc sport atv to replace a "couple" low sellers? I figured the warrior and the wolverine were getting close to extinction but figured the Banshee would live until 2 strokes were finally banned?

I would think that the Banshee is not a good seller anywhere except out west where there are dunes and desert. I remember when I lived on the East coast I rarely saw a Banshee but now there are as many Banshees as everything else combined almost.

Either way, after 2006 (reportedly) there will be no more 2 stroke ATVs anyway.

I also remember hearing of the demise of the Banshee as far back as 1997 and every so often since then.

Well, I got mine so I'm good to go.
