I'm trying to decide between Custom Axis or Elka shocks for my NEW 2003 Limited Edition. The riding I do is alot of jumping and fast trailing. Soooooo ifin anyone can Help, I would appreciate it.
Thanks Guys, Zombie |
I know this for a fact. If you keep your stock arms go with the elkas. They give you more travel than the Axis. Axis do not make a triple rate for a stock armed Raptor. Only a dual rate. I have elka ssd triple rate fronts and an Elka modified rear dual rate ssd. It lowered my quad two inches. The quad handles great and I can handle all but the largest ski jumps and triples.

I myself prefer the stocker shocks above and beyond the two mentioned.
J/K I've never heard anyone complain about the Elka's, so that would probably be my choice. |
You're silly

I have never tried the Elkas but I like my Axis. They do rattle a little, but they also lowered my Raptor a little. I would like to try some but no one around here has any I can borrow to see.

Wow, you never mentioned the best shocks available, PEP/ZPS of course are the best shocks!!
|
It is a shame really. I have the Elkas but I have to admit that most aftermarket shocks are overpriced for what you get. That is why I bought my elka fronts on ebay and had them rebuilt to my specs. Much cheaper. I had the rear stocker modified. Much cheaper. I ride as often as I can to make the purchase worth while. ya dig

I have the Elka triple rate SSD front and rear on my bike and I love them. Remember just because you have after markets doesnt mean you wont bottom out, it just means the times you actually do will be considerbly less. I believe the shocks have soaked up several accidents waiting to happen had I still had the stocks. Check with marty over at the quad shop, pretty good guy and competitive prices,he's the guy I went through.

<< Wow, you never mentioned the best shocks available, PEP/ZPS of course are the best shocks!! >> Too bad you have to wait six months to get the PEP Shocks, and have your rear shock laid up for the 6 mos as well. I have heard some really good things about Elkas... take a look at TCS as well. I have the TCS triple rates w the Sag control... it too drops the Rap about 2 inches and the rear conversion is awesome. |
Zombie6666000r- I know that you asked about.....I have TCS, they are great!!!!! I have never jumped them yet. Usually the front end slams down on the 1 to 2 shift and the 3 to 4 shift. They seem to dive a little when the brakes are applied at the end of the drag strip. I was told that you can't jump a raptor cause of a tippy condition. If you want to jump get a Z400 or Cannon. LOLLOLLOL
