I finally installed my new Elka suspension on my Rap last weekend.
I think she is coming on queit nicely.

Im totally bummed coz I wanted to test those bad babies out this weekend.
When I had the bike jacked up, I noticed up and down play on my rear axle.
The axle is definately not bent, but what is gone is the axle bearing.
A friend I ride with a lot also has a rap that is about the same age (2yrs) old
and he recently had his bearings changed. I guess its due to all the mud and water riding we do

Ive just forked out for these Elka's, so am broke and cant afford to repair the axle bearing right now

Please Im appealing to all of you.........If each of you sponsor me $1.........that should give me $25,782

Check out my PICS

Tell me what you do or dont think......

out of curiosity, what did you pay for all three shocks? Those are the ones I'm interested in for my raptor.

thanks

...ive had my elkas for 2years now and they've held up great. i know i've pulled off some bad landings with these in the past that i would not have made with the stockers. your confidence/riding ability will definately go up a level or two with those bad boys bolted on...enjoy...they are worth every dime.

it's just a shame you don't have two dimes left to rubb together after the purchase. lol

Got my stuff directly from Elka.

They retail for $820 (front) $728 (rear)

I got mine for dealer price $1200

also got Elka shock covers,T-shirt and cap

+ shipping + taxes = retail price

All in all......very good price considering I had them imported.

Did the shocks lower your quad? If so how much?

Just installing them dropped the bike by 2 cm.
You can make further adjustments depending on the type of riding you do and drop the ride height overall by 2.5"

NICE.....

I cant seem to reply to your PM, so here is your info........

1. Why did you chose the piggy backs over the remote rezzies? I heard the the piggies respond quicker than the rezzies? Do you know if this is true? Any info. I ride open desert with lots of woops as fast as I can and recently sand dunes. What is your opinion?
I chose piggy back for 2 reasons.....
a) They look better......kinda give your raptor teeth
b) More practical ie. dont have to worry about mounting rezzies....already done.

Thats correct, they do respond quicker. The reason for this is that the piggies keep the shock slightly cooler (Less effort for the oil/gas to get from the rezzy to shock apposed to the remote setup)
It is so marginal, that I wouldn't worry. Get the ones that you like the look of.

I also ride open desert, dunes and even MX. With this susspension, you will eat up the whoops. Find yourself much faster. Save yourself from some major wipeouts, and still have some energy left at the end of the day..... more than one good reason!!

You are right, I went with LSR. They make probably the best quality products.
I have the +3+1 Racing A-Arms......fully Camber/Caster adjustable
My bike is now as wide as a DS650 which is great for desert/endurance riding.

+2+1 is also a good option......even better when it comes to tight trails.

I promise you, this kind of setup makes the raptor the most awesome quick reving, handling machine there is

Good luck with your decisions.

Is there any way you could drop your Raptor to the maximum allowable limit with the SSD and post a picture for us. I am ver curious as to how low you can go with the Elkas. Is it very difficult to do ?
