Default Grizzly 660 in sand or dunes????

We took our Grizz 660 to Pismo last summer for an extra ride. It climbed everything out there just fine.
It wasn't like having a sport machine, but I rode it several times just to see what it was like. I even ran into a guy with a Kodiak out there. I put a set of Spider Trax on the rear while we were there, which helped a lot. I kept it in 4x4. It works.

I'd like to see one with paddles on all four. I saw a picture of a Wolverine done like this, it was fine. Can you imagine the traction in 4x4 with 4 paddles.

I was wondering the same thing. With 4 paddles and nos, how would a modded p650 compare. Do you race a long distance or just up hills? What the deal. I have raced a lot of sport bikes on black top and dirt, but that was only for 200 to 300 ft.

i havent rode the dunes with my grizzly, but i have driven on alot of sand. i can tell ya, dont have on mud tires, lol. my titans suck in sand. the stock tires due alot better. i bet with 4 paddles, it would climb anything, lol.

The 660 Grizzly does to good in the sand as far as I am concerned.

I was at comp hill in Florence oregon trying to convince my father inlaw to buy a 400ex and come riding with me. He was telling me how he'd rather get a Grizzly 4x4. I told him they were slow and boring. I approached a guy on a grizzly and explained to him that I was trying to convince my father inlaw to get the ex and that if he would race me up comp hill (me on my stock ex at the time) the old man would see that sport quads are the way to go. Much to my amazement/embarassment I got spanked by the damn 660 up comphill in front of friends afamily and strangers alike. The damn 660 is to good in the sand. Needless to say pipe jets k&n filter were added within hours...

I think the Grizzly is great in the sand although it is a little tall to sideways across a dune. But is just fine going straight up. Another thing that you will really appreciate is the soft suspension. On a recent trip to silver lake after all day riding my wife was complaining about all the ruts and paddle tracks on her warrior. So I let her rid the grizz and she had to be dragged off the dunes. While I got beat up on the warrior.

HI GUY'S:
A magazine a while ago had a Kawi P650 out in the dunes (Not to be confused with the "Dune Prairie" in a recent mag that had the original C.D.I, as well as the front diff removed, and bigger air intake...that thing is a monster!) The P650 that I'm talking about was basically stock... with bigger air intake and I believe jetting as well as 4 paddles on it. According to the mag this thing was beating stock Raptors and Banshees in drags and hill climbs. It won't handle like them though. I can't see why the Grizz 660 wouldn't be as effective with the right tires.
