Hi guys, I am going to tackle removing the excess wire (lights ect) and putting in a push button starter switch. Has anybody done this before? any help, hints and advise is welcome. Thanks!

All Raptors are electric start, aren't they?? I'd hate to think that some Rappys need to be kick started. Wouldn't that be a b-tch!!!

I am taking off all the factor wiring, light switches and putting on a after market push button switch. I don't want all that stuff on the handle bars. I got a magura clutch and it won't work with light switch .

Just trim all the extra stuff down to minimum and run the stock wires to the new starter switch.

Question for 03Raptor:

How do you like your new Raptor? I also live in AZ and probably looking to pick mine up this weekend. Does it have any of the problems of the previous years or any other issues? Also, what do you recommend doing to it 1st as far as add ons? If you dont mind me asking, where did you pick yours up and what did you pay for it out the door? Thanks and hope to hear back from you.

Well I can answer some questions, it doesnt have the 01 tranny problems. It comes in new colors. some other small changes as well, as for addons, all raptors react the same. They like the pipes with the K&N filter or pro flow filter. They like the 686 bore with high comp pistons. Stage 2 cam is recommended if you dune alot, with port and polish. It is an awsome quad with just filter kit, jet kit, and pipes - If you arent into duning all the time. If your building a dune machine then engine mods are good to have.

I like it alot! By far one of the funnest toys I've had in a while. Very comfy and powerfull! This is the first year I've owned the a Raptor so a lot of the kinks were smoothed out by Yamaha that I have not had to deal with. The only problem I've had is the shifter linkage getting bound up after I adjusted it for my boots. So I would recomend the following. Direct shifter (mine was $70.00), pipe ($150-$250), air filter and jet kit ($120.00) and a 12 tooth front sprocket ($15.00). I have the Dynojet kit...I have no problems with it but some people say they can't get things just right. If you are worried about the same problem you might want to look into thr GYTR kit. It seems people have better luck with that kit.....but it's prolly a patients thing. I paid $6400.00 (thats the truth not some low balled made up amount) out the door with a few extras from Metro Motor Sports. I would say expect to pay some where in that price range unless you find an extraordinary deal.
Where do you live in AZ? Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the replys to my questions. They were both helpful. I think I am pretty convinced to going ahead and getting a Raptor...not that it took much...lol Hopefully I will be able to pick it up this weekend, depending on my schedule. To answer your question (03Raptor), I live in Mesa. Maybe we can hook up and go ridin sometime. WEll, I gotta go...again, thanks for the help.
