I was wondering if anyone has any experience with 26 inchers on a 2000 kodiak? im not worried about the difference in power, just wondering if they rub anywhere and how severely. Thanks for the help.

oh yeah, one more thing, will a 12-12.5 inch wide tire fit on my stock rims. Im not sure of the width of the rims, but i would guess 7.5 inch. thanks.

I'VE GOT 27" BLACKWATER XT'S WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.I DO NOT HAVE A LIFT KIT AND THEY DON'T COME CLOSE TO RUBBING.THEY ARE MOUNTED ON ITP RIMS.I'M NOT SURE ABOUT STOCK RIMS.I LOVE THESE TIRES,BUT IT MAKES IT RIDE A LITTLE TOO STIFF.I WAS THINKING ABOUT CHANGING SHOCKS,BUT NOT SURE IF THAT WOULD HELP.

I have 26 12X12 Bear claws on the rear and 26 9X12's on the front of my y2kodiak and they work really well. BUT! When steering full left the front right rubs my warn winch and the inside of the left tire rubs the A-arm.. Obviously not all brands are the same so some bigger tires may not rub at all.. So if you go with a set of bear claws *Don't* go any bigger than 26 8X12's on the front. On the rear you are good to go. Lot's of room.

I also have Bear Claws on 2000 Kodiak 26x9x12 front 26x12x12 rear, no rubs at any time. These tires robbed a little power at low end but with the K&N jet kit, filter, and SuperTrapp IDS this more than makes up for any loss of power! The 26x12's weigh 35lbs. a tire compared to the OEM Dunlop's at 20 lbs. a tire. The Bear Claws are excellent on hard pack, excellent climbers in the rocks, as well excellent on loose shale, that we have on the pipelines in Central PA. Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 kodiak and I am running a set of 27x12x9 blackwater xt's on the front and 27x12x12 blackwater xt's on the rear, all mounted on stock rims. I have the same rubbing problem with KERPLUNK but it is not too bad. It only happens once and a while, and has only slightly wore some of the paint off the frame. I run 6 psi and this eliminates most of the rubbing.

Word of caution, increasing tire size also changes final ratio and make it easier to slip and damage the belt. This may not be a concern in normal use but if you really start working it, you will damage somthing easier.

Ive got 26x12x12 vampires on itps (rear)
26x9.50x12 (front) of my 2000 Kodiak. It doesnt rub or anything. If your interested in different setups, call national tire. Those guys know there stuff when it comes to big wheel kits they will tell you right off the bat if your gonna have a rubbing problem. I dont know the # off hand but they are all over the magazine.
