rotten evil '02 shee lemon
#1
I have a 02 Banshee that I bought about 8 months ago. The evil thing has been in the shop for 2 months now.
I guess what happened was the Water pump seized up and then the head gasket blew, then because of the coolant in the oil and the overheating the crankshaft was damaged (way out of spec now), the piston and cylinders are out of round now too! What A freakin MESS! Yamaha says oops....Sorry bout your luck and the dealership wants almost $2000 to fix it....!! I have only ever used Yamalube oil and honestly never abused the machine.
My question is: Has anyone else heard of this on a 6 month old machine? And does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with this stupid lemon!
Thanks
Mel

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, but this is getting to be a broken record with Yamaha. If it's under warenty I would threaten them with leagel action if they don't help you out.
YAMAHA, ARE YOU LISTENING, your customers are not happy.

Oh, really so I'm not the only one then??? Thats comforting.....Unfortunatly the shee only has a 3 month warranty off the floor because they consider it a "performance" machine. My blaster came with 6 months....which is running great go figure!

Yamaha has hosed the 01 Raptor owners with a faulty transmission....I feel your pain there Mel. I would look for a new engine.....the yahoo's at your stealership will never get it right anyway. Have you called Yamaha direct?

Yeah I have called them and I'm calling them again tonight...I'm not happy and they are gonna know it! They did give 3 hours teardown to start, but now the whole thing is in pieces and the dealership says I owe for the rest of the repairs......I hate this thing!

Not yet...... I assume I'll get a box of parts if I don't pay their bill. I'm trying very hard not to lose my paitence with them but it's getting harder every day that it sits in the shop!

I FOUGHT WITH YAMAHA FOR 2 months about my piece of trash raptor.
I finally got my money back after getting a lawyer and having him go to the dealership.
I was upset, another one of my friends got an 02 raptor that blew up twice. It would sieze up, something about an oil line was out of spec and not letting enough oil in the top end?(not sure never got the full details) and then a banshee with similar problems to yours..but they fixed them with no problem.
