Default Using Tracback Feature on Garmin GPS

I recently purchased a Garmin 450 and the one feature I can't seem to figure out is the "Tracback". On my old Magellan if you went out riding and then use the Backtrack the GPS would show you what path to take by using arrows and let you know if you are going off course. The Garmin seems to only try to make you follow the track line on the map and if you get off course there don't seem to be anything indicating what way you need to go to get back on track. My old Magellan would even tell you how many feet until you reach a turn during tracback. Is there something I am missing on the Garmin? Thanks.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 500. I usually mark the parking area where we start and use the Go To feature to get back if I can't get there by dead reckoning.
