keihin 34mm carb on 250r
I just picked up an 86 trx250r from a guy in pennsylvania . the bike ran strong there but after getting the bike home (on the gulf coast) not running as strong and will not idle . try to adjust air flow on carb (keihin 34mm pj) but no difference.
also how often do I need to replace rings ? and where can I get factory plastic and a good selection of replacement parts?

Do to the elevation change, it's a good chance that you will have to rejet the carb. If the bike has a stock motor then don't replace the rings until it blows up or starts smoking alot. That way you can upgrade to a 330kit;^) For those of you reading I was just kidding. The rings really depend on the riding you do. Some shops recommend doing a top end every other year based on hours of riding. I've gone 8yrs before I blew up my stock motor without changing rings. My piston blew up due to to hot a plug and not enough premix. My fault though I was out of gas and fouled my plug but wanted to ride longer so I borrowed my buddies parts and fuel. As far as factory plastics, you may want to price them out before buying. They are much more expensive than that of say Fullbore.
