Default Winch problems please help!

Hey guys I am no mechanic by any means and have a question about wenches. I had a 2000lb champion wench on my 450 foreman that was old and needs to be replaced. It does not retrieve any more. I just unbolted the conections and unplugged a piece. I don't want to have to reword all that **** so would I have to buy that exact winch to just plug the wires in? Or are all winches the same? Could I get a 2500lb of the same brand even know it's 500lb bigger and use the same wiring? Thanks.

Most winches are wired pretty much the same. We put a different winch on a friend's quad once and simply swapped out the winch for the new one. Here's a pretty good deal on a good quality winch you could replace it with from Cabella's Superwinch LT2500 ATV Winch : Cabela's

When you say "plug" the wires in ....are your electrical connections bolted onto the winch or a push plug? All the winches I have worked with have a heavy wire bolt on connection for the pos and neg. If that is what you have then you should be good with most any brand atv winch, now if you have a "plug" as you claim that might be something different. A pic might help....

They could have the same wiring but you need to take a look too at size for fitting.

The one I posted has machine specific mounts listed on there for it too. It will cost an extra $50 or $60, depending on application. Still, $160 for a new 2500lb winch with a mount is half what most cost.
