If you're worried about shorting anything out just disconnect the battery. Hook everything back up after you finish. Welding, etc normally wouldn't hurt anything, but best to be on the safe side. Same thing a lot of auto manuals say on certain projects or repairs, pull individual fuses or disconnect the battery. Had to replace the horn switch(clock spring I think they call it) on my sons' truck, battery was the first thing to be disconnected. Didn't want an air bag going off in my face.

Bad MF'n news boys.... Jan 30th, I was riding the Polaris. I was revving up pretty high, doing top speed, whatever that is. It started bucking slightly, so I gave it a little more gas to compensate like usual. I lowered the revs, and it lost power. It has a good many hours on it, so I immediately thought: "oh **** no don't die on me!!" It then acted like it slipped out of gear, and so I popped it into neutral. It ran, so I thought I may have burned the gear. I was still slightly revving so I could tell if it shut off, and then it just ******* DIED... I coasted to a stop, and smelled a very slight burning smell. The engine was not hot, and it had 2 stroke oil in it, along with coolant. I tried to pull start, and it pulled over twice and then it wouldn't let me pull it out hardly at all.... I think I have depression now...please help me!!!!! I can't lose this 4wheeler it is very special. It's also my only one. I can't afford another. Please help me!!!!!!!!! Is it seized or blown, both? I think I am losing my mind.
