The Can-Am frame should get the frame mod. Here some people talking about it. Frame mod - Outlander discussion - can-am ATV Forums - can-amtalk.com Man, just do a search for Can-Am frame mod...you'll find tons of information.

I would also recommend a frame modification on the Outlander if you buy it also. You can do your own using 1.25 in. outside width box aluminum. That's what I did on my Outlander even though Can-Am modified the frame a bit for the 2011 and 2012 year. There are how to do it videos on YouTube that are worth the watch.

Polaris has a better ride. It's softer and absorbs the bumps much better than the Can-Am's torsional arm rear suspension. I've had both and miss the Polaris ride even though the Can-Am is pretty comfortable. Engine-wise the Rotax 800 gets the nod. Makes the Polaris 800 look pretty tame in my mind.

Can you take both for a ride? If so, go with what you like. They're both good, reliable quads. The Polaris 800 was around for years as well as the Rotax 800.
