Default FMF Gold Series Fatty Pipes on Banshee - LOUD and not much low end

Thanks all for the feedback. I was hoping someone would say the Fatty is a low-end pipe. I wasn't sure and I was hoping it wasn't a pipe designed for top-end dune riding or something.

When comparing the low-end power and the noise, it's basically my memory of my old Banshee many years ago. Also, since I've only ridden it for about 5 minutes, my opinion could change. I guess I'll just need to bring it home and make a few runs and check the plugs and see if it's running rich or lean, then adjust the jetting if necessary.

One more question, are there any good online places to buy Yamaha parts, the nearest dealer to me is about 40 miles away.

www.parkeryamaha.com Is the place to buy stock parts. www.rockymountainatv.com is the place for aftermarket and some stock. Did your old banshee have stock pipes?? The after markets are alot louder than stock.

Yea, if I remember right, my old Banshee had stock pipes with aftermarket silencers. Thanks for the web links!

I had fatty's on my banshee for nearly two years and never thought they were loud. I've got CPI's on it now and they are really loud. The fatty's were a good pipe and i kinda wish i had never sold them. Just make sure you clean them after you ride, or they will turn this weird goldish, silver color.

What do you clean them with? Some kind of chrome polish?

How can I look at the silencers and see if they need repacked? Will it be obvious?

first of all, aftermarket pipes will always be loud. as far as packing, just take the baffle out and look at it...if it is toasted bad, replace it...get the angelhair packing, but 1 year shouldn't toast the packing...and as far as low-end, there ain't none...banshees are all top end hp, with no practical torque... the dude who says he has lowend because all his power are in gears 1-4 is confused...the fact that you can't use your 5th gear proves the lack of torque.

With proper packing....the Fatty's will be a little louder than stock. Fatty's are an excellent pipe....although not a drap pipe like the cpi's. Sounds like it could be jetting. Surely you checked compression if you are buying????
