Anybody know how much Horsepower a 05 Kodiak 450 has?

 

On a good day, an 03 gets about 18 horses.

The motors are unchanged to 05, so its possible the horse power to the rear wheels may be down a tiny bit, due to the irs changes.

 

the hp is 18.5 according to magazines but the motors are not the same. The crank is different in the 05 models

 

Thank for the info. looks like you have done extensive mods to your 05 kodiak. I installed my HMF slip on and will be installing my jet kit with K&N air filter this weekend. How much of a power increase did you get with these mods? How much power do you have with all of your mods? Thanks again.

 

mine is now making 32-35 hp without nitrous

I'm very happy with my Kodiaks,I was just curios if I should start saving.

Weaver..........32 + HP, thats Awesome. Would you mind sharing the following info: Do you have a price break down of all your engine mods? Did you do the work yourself (difficulty rating, timeframe), Where did you order the parts? Any pictures?

Here is a break down of what i am using on my 05 kodiak 450

mickey dunlap custom stroker kit
custom crank done by a machine shop near mickey
aftermarket rod
cp piston
yamaha race springs and retainers
flatslide carb
cycletech cam
custom intake

Now I got all of that from mickey dunlap I paid 1100 for the strocker and he took my crank as an exchange and i paid 100 for the carb and traded him my stock carb and intake and then 250 in machining. Not sure if that is the going price i paid to be the ginny pig the first one to try it

Now i have hmf exhaust paid 200 for
I made the header at my work so free
I ported and did the valve work at my work
I have the high lifter clutch not sure what i paid
k&n filter not sure on price
Nitrous express kit 379 is what i paid its a 10hp shot i use that way its safe with the rod i use


Now I bought my atv in october of 04 in jan I with 200 miles on it i took the engine out myself and started sourceing parts out. I dissassembled the engine myself and its not all that complicated thats my opinion. Thing is I build race motors for a living so i am used to this kinda work. I think mickey charges an extra 400 to tare down and rebuild engines. I will probably go to high compression next jan just depends. I was wondering Weaver, is the 10 hp shot of nitrous safe for a stock rod? Where did you buy the kit and how much was it? Did it come with a fuel pump? Thanks for the info I would like to put nitrous on my Grizz without changing the rod. Also, what does the nitrous kit adjust down to in terms of H.P and how high of H.P does it go up to?
