Top 3 fastest fourwheelers stock?
Are Renegades really that quick? I raced one with a piped z400 with the snorkle off and he only had about a length on me up until I toped out and he kept going. I have never raced anything besides my 400ex with it so I don't know how it would do against other faster quads.

Fast as in top end, or fast as in acceleration?
Best STOCK, all-around fast quad for recreational woods (not mud) AND track use:
- Raptor 700 -
- reverse gear
- broad powerband - less shifts
- not too wide for tight trails
- can turn decent laps
- relatively light
Just my 2-cents

here is some interesting info I had found from "1988" which leads into a question that has been difficult to answer. Anyway, these are atchual results of Quads from 1988, and honestly quite beastly.
===================================
1988
1. Suzuki 500 Quadracer, 79.20 mph, 15.09 et, 1.938 60 ft time.
2. Yamaha 350 Banshee, 77.05 mph, 15.33 et, 1.902 60 ft time.
3. Kawasaki 250 Tecate 4 74.75 mph, 15.81 et, 2.064 60 ft time.
4. Suzuki 250 Quadracer, 71.48 mph, 16.09 et, 1.947 60 ft time
5. Honda 250 4-trax R, 71.89 mph, 16.42 et, 2.084 60 ft time.
6. Kawasaki 250 Mojave, 57.84 mph, 19.07 et, 2.162 60 ft time.
All machines were bone stock, two riders made four runs on each quad. The best times were obtained by leaving in second gear with exception of the Tecate-4, it worked best in first.
There was a part two of this testing planned to see what difference jetting and bolt on mods would make, but I don't have that issue.
===================================
Now I have been trying to find specific information about the older 2strokes vs the newer 4 strokes, ex. would be horsepower vs displacment ect.
I have owned many snowmobiles, dirtbikes, never a quad. I had always been partial to the lt's of '88, though when I had found an '88 Tecate 4 for a mere $450 of course i purchased it. For $450 and starts 1st kick always, I most definatly cannot complain, and in 1988 the KFX 250 Tecate 4 was highest horsepower of all the 250's at 42hp (I have yet to use 6th gear yet, mind you this is my first ever quad)I have not found the specifics on the others, though I am told the next closest was 6hp less at 36hp? So might anyone have the resources for these comparisons of the '88 machines vs the '08 machines in horsepower/displacment? Thus far ALL dealers are presistant the KFX 450R produces 50+hp? And none of the manufactures wish to discuss horsepower on their quads....
Now on the other hand, and it seems logical with news articles, when an event is published on the "quality" of a '08 machine, the articles tend to dance around the 2strokes as though they do not exist focusing on the newer machines which are 4 stroke, and honestly it is their job in part of advertising for the manufactures. Surly they wont say some old 2stroke whipped the **** out of the newest top end machines as it is bad buisness for their company and the relations with manufactures. Thus the magazines are obligated to promote products and sometimes avoid direct truths, its a fact of buisness.
So lets see what people can dig up in comparison, I tried the "Search" on this forum, several others, yahoo, google and I am left empty handed, so aparently I am missing some key information or something to find these things. Any thoughts? ^^
