Is this normal?
I just purchased an '07 YFZ 450 SE...We started it up when we got home and I noticed it had a noise in the motor and it remained even after we warmed it up...It sounds like a lifter noise and I was wondering if this noise is normal for the YFZ or if I have something seriously wrong with my bike....Also I started it up in the evening time when it was dark and I noticed the exhaust pipe, where it comes out of the head, gets a bright orange..Is this normal as well? It looks to be very close to the oil reservoir and was wondering if this is dangerous or not? I'm not too sure about these things because I'm not too used to the new bikes...thanks guys...

Does the bike have a pipe or any other modifications? Sounds like it may need rejetted. As for the lifter noise, they probably just need adjusted, which is not difficult to do, and just needs to be done every great once in a while. Someone with a YFZ or repair manual for one can probably give you the specifics on that.

The stock pipe is kinda thin so that is why it glows orange. It should do this mostly when left at idle. It won't hurt the oil tank that's located near the head pipe. If it's running lean the pipe would stay red when you ride the quad. Also you can look at the tip of the plug if it has a white residue on the tip than it may need to be rejetted richer. As for the engine noise it my need to have the valves adjusted. Thay are supposed to get adjusted at the first service (10 hrs.)
