From Military Helicopters to your UTV

Sometimes products come along so cool you can’t help but marvel. In the case of S&B Particle Separator, this is the technology the military uses in its choppers so that they can land in the desert!

Rather than just rely on a sponge or paper air filter element, particle separation is the process of using centrifugal force to spin the air before it even gets to the air filter so that the dust gets pushed to the outer walls of the chamber. A scavenge fan and vents in these walls let the dust return to the atmosphere while the clean air keeps heading toward the intake tract.

What results is much, much cleaner air heading through the filter. How much cleaner? They estimate it will extend the filter’s life 15-times over!

The only downside is that like most cutting-edge tech, it isn’t exactly cheap. An S&B Particle Separator will set you back $399. Though we suppose that’s less than rebuilding your RZR Turbo as a result of sucking sand into the engine.
