Ask the Editors: Why Are There So Many Polaris Models In My Classifieds?
Seeing more of these than the other brands?
How is it in your state?
Prepare for a shocker – while the stats typically blend ATVs, UTVs, and SxS into one segment (powersports), Polaris has, for the greater part of the 2000s, been as high as 42% of the North American off-road vehicle (ORV) market share.
What that means is that every single other brand (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Arctic Cat, Can-Am etc.) fall into the remaining 58%.
There was a time when Yamaha was keeping pace with the domestic brand and of late it seems as though Honda has taken the second spot but we can’t downplay the dominance that is Polaris. That much of the market share means anywhere from 4 – 10 of their machines are being moved to every 1 of the competition.
This is why it’s not only Texas, but just about anywhere in North America, Polaris machines often trump all the others in the classified section.
