Wiring again
found a red wire at the rectifier that was broken.
Joined it back up and ignition works
Problem is it works with ignition switch key in the 0 position. No lights work but quad will.start and run fine
Turn key to 1 position. No dash or ignition quad will not start or fire but headlights and horn work
Anyone have any idea what causes this as its got me stumped

 

I would guess at those Canada spec relays shown on the wiring diagram in the other post. They connect the red and the red/black together but only when there isn't pos power to the black/red and is power to the white/black, or possibly t'other way round, decidedly weird and sadly typical of modern Honda wiring. Note that the above wiring colours go to them, so look for two relays with those colour wires, also a diode and capacitor turn the whole Canada thing into electronics, rather than simple ATV electricals, which is all I can cope with.
