Ask The Editors: Identify This Axle At A Glance
While your pictures are nice and clear, the bad news is it’s just about impossible to tell such things by photos alone. Why? Without all of the dimensions (the length in particular), every straight axle looks virtually identical.
The good news, however, is that once you get out your trusty measuring tape and come up with all of your machine’s axle dimensions, you are not locked in on replacement with the same unit should the time come. In fact, replacing a stock unit with a wider one for additional stability is a very common performance modification.
It’s unlikely, but if you ever remove the axle entirely, you may want to search for a stamped parts number that you could cross-reference so as to determine the manufacturer.
Aside from getting lucky with a parts number, if you absolutely must know the OEM equivalent of that particular unit, only the machine’s builder would be able to say for sure.
