While most of the world doesn’t start thinking of the New Year until the end of December, the ATV industry turns its collective sights on the New Year in August. And we’re not complaining, that 5-month head start is time that can be spent in the saddle! Keeping that in mind, we’ve received word from both Suzuki and Polaris this week concerning their 2012 lines.

2012 Suzuki

SUZUKI

The diverse line of 2012 Suzuki ATV products now includes six KingQuad utility sport ATVs, the Ozark 250 utility sport ATV, and Quadsport Z400 sport ATV, just to mention a few.

The 2012 utility sport ATV models include the KingQuad 750AXi, KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering, KingQuad 500AXi, KingQuad 500AXi Power Steering, KingQuad 400ASi, KingQuad 400FSi and Ozark 250 models. These class-leading utility sport ATV models combine strong, versatile performance with exceptional torque, power and convenient utility features to conquer tough trails and terrain or cut the workday down to size.

Also returning for 2012 is the ever-popular QuadSport Z400, a race-inspired sport ATV engineered for high-performance, off-road four-wheeling. It features a powerful 398cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with Suzuki fuel injection for impressive acceleration with tractable power across a range of RPM. The QuadSport Z400 is the total sport ATV package designed for a thrilling ride on the trail or track.

(PII) has unveiled its product offerings for 2012, a lineup that delivers several new vehicles and accessories, honoring Polaris’ rich heritage for innovation, and upgrading already legendary Polaris titles. For the ATV line, Polaris will have more powerful, big bore ATVs with the introduction of the new 850 Twin, EFI, High Output engine available in the Sportsman XP 850 H.O. and Sportsman Touring 850 H.O.

polaris ps4 oil

PS-4 Extreme Duty 4-Cycle Engine Oil

Designed for ATV and RANGER/RZR customers who ride their machines in harsh conditions and hot temperatures, PS-4 Extreme Duty is a full-synthetic, newly-developed formulation to be used in temperatures ranging from 0°F up to 120°F. While it may seem an easier choice to turn to automotive oils for your ATV or RANGER/RZR, automotive oils are not designed to provide the protection Polaris engines demand. In addition, they don’t provide the high RPM shear stability or the corrosion protection needed to keep internal parts working properly.

Without any industry standards for ATV and Side-by-Side oils in place, Polaris sets its own standards. Thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of miles of severe field testing have proven PS-4 Extreme Duty provides the ultimate protection for Polaris customers in hot climates and extreme applications.

• Ultimate hot weather performance
• Increased corrosion & rust resistance
• Extremely shear stable
• Formulated specifically for Polaris 4-cycle engines

Yamaha Launches OHV Access Initiative GRANT-Tracking Map

Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. proudly announced the launch of its OHV Access Initiative GRANT-tracker interactive Google map, a visual snapshot of the program’s activity across the country. In January of 2008, the Yamaha OHV Access Initiative launched with the mission to promote safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas. To date the program has invested nearly million through 140 GRANTS (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nations Trails) to local riding communities across the country to improve the OHV experience for all.

The Yamaha GRANT map is a resource to finding local, reputable riding clubs and areas across the country to network, share riding experiences and, ultimately, serve to identify additional areas that could be supported by the OHV Access Initiative.

Examples of appropriate projects for GRANTs include, but are not limited to:
• Trail development, restoration and maintenance
• Trail signage and map production
• Staging area construction, renovation and maintenance
• Land stewardship, trail safety and education

The OHV Access Initiative GRANT-tracker map can be accessed on the “GRANT Recipients” page of www.yamaha-motor.com/ohvaccess/. Interested organizations can also find information on how to become eligible for GRANTs as well as detailed information, downloadable guidelines and an application document.
