Ask the Editors: The ROXOR Makes No Sense
Dear ATVC: I was just reviewing your piece on the Mahindra ROXOR and all I have to say is WTH?! Who in their right mind is going to buy an expensive vehicle in 2018 putting out 62 Horsepower with a top speed of 45 mph? Maybe they have the US mixed up with India. This thing can’t even do 65 on the highway.
While you do bring up a valid point in that Mahindra is entering a pretty darn competitive SxS marketplace with a machine that seems oddly limited, we suppose to judge it on top speed alone misses the important fact that the vehicle is designed for off-road use anyway and hence doesn’t have to worry about highway speeds. Or, for that matter, even side road ones.
We think their focus was to offer a legit Willys Jeep/ trucklet for the modern era. We could handle the top-speed limitations but do agree that foregoing street legality certainly makes this a tougher sale in an already crowded marketplace.
