Dear ATVC:
If i take the silencer/ quite core out of the stock muffler of my 2007 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE, do I have to make any changes to air or gas flow? peslraptor

Generally speaking, no, removing the baffle within your Raptor’s muffler shouldn’t require adjustment of the fuel & air ratios. In the older carburetor-equipped model days, an increase in exhaust flow could lean out the mixture, resulting in the need for rejetting to compensate. However, it’s been our experience that simply taking out the stock baffle does little more than make the Raptor louder without offering discernible performance advantage.

Your best bet to change the power delivery characteristics of your 700R would be to invest in a map programmer like the Big Gun TFI Power Box, which will allow you to tweak such aspects as your machine’s throttle response & horsepower plug & lay style (no laptop needed). Best of all, it frees up the option to make as radical an exhaust change as your heart desires without fear of giving up any performance benefits by doing so.
