Tracking down the correct gearshift drum.

Dear ATVC: I have a 2001 Honda Fourtrax 350 and my gearshift drum broke. Unfortunately they discontinued the gearshift drum and made a new model. And I’m wondering if I can still use the new model in my old crankcase.

We’re not entirely sure what you mean by “new model” but the part in question was unchanged from 2001-2006. Any one of these model years will work for your machine. If you’re talking about the drum from 2007 and onward, you will run into compatibility issues.

The OEM part # would be 24300-HN5-671

While it’s true that Honda is no longer producing this generation of machine, so long as you search that part number, you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating the correct drum.

Here’s a quick example of a retailer who has it in stock, PartZilla.
