Anybody know anything about this quad?

Dear ATVC: Could you help me identify this old ATV? The carb shows CCCP.

We scoured our archives, going all the way back to 1980 and the early Adventure Vehicles of Monroe, Louisiana and can only conclude that whatever you have here is not American or Japanese.

Given that the only clue you were able to find (CCCP carbs) traces back to Soviet Union era Russia, our best guess is this is some obscure European manufactured ATV, possibly even with military roots.

What we do see in the pics is certainly unique, though, with many components clearly borrowed from street bikes of the era. We would guess the engine as well, given that it looks like a kickstart-only, air cooled parallel twin. It looks as though the machine is shifted via separate up and downshift foot levers, further solidifying our hunch on the street bike connection – which would mean the myriad of tank-mounted lever selections must be transmission ranges.

We’d be inclined to suggest it was a one-off/ custom street bike conversion were it not for the fastidious routing of components. The metalwork is also surprisingly clean given that there seems to be no branding anywhere.

One thing is for certain, finding parts will be nearly impossible for this machine if you’re hoping to restore it but what you have is undeniably rare.
