The x-factor.

Dear ATVC: Picked up an 08 DS90 for my kids, It was a cheap craigslist find that didn’t run, jets where plugged with ethanol gas gunk. So on the maiden voyage for my son to see how he likes it he gases it up wen turning around right into the neighbors bumper on his Toyota tundra and breaks the front fenders to pieces.

There is a $200 difference between the ds90 and the ds90x, the parts diagrams look identical only difference I see is the color, Black for 90x and Yellow for 90.

Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

The official answer? No. Can-Am’s parts schematics specify that interchangeability between the two models was never intended. And given that each trim was offered in a yellow and a black variant, we’re inclined to believe them that the differences are more than just the color of the plastic.

The unofficial answer, though, is yes. It can be made to work assuming you purchase the fenders from the same year. The main reason they wear different part numbers is that some of the mounting points are a tad different between the two (primarily where the front lower fender guards attach). Additionally the 90 was designed to mount around the headlight assemblies while the X was not. So long as you don’t mind getting a bit creative with the mount points, the cheaper X-edition plastic will line up for you.
