Dear ATVC:

You guys keep teasing us with the concept of airless tires (tweels) but at the end of the day, I’m getting tired of waiting for these things. I tore two tires last season, ended up plugging then running tubes and now this year it appears the tubes must be leaking. Is there anything available now that can help those of us tired of fixing flats?

We too are really excited about the whole tweel concept as well. In the mean time you may want to check out a product called the Tireliner.

Tireliner is a permanent sealant liner that “heals” cuts, punctures and penetrating objects, and will prevent tires from going flat if punctured or cut by objects up to 1/4″ in diameter.

According to the company, “The patented process actually allows the liner to immediately close over the zone of penetration and completely fuse, thus preventing the loss of air pressure. Most blowouts or flat tires are caused by operating under-inflated tires that are the result of small punctures.”

They go on to say that unlike any other product on the market, OTR’s Tireliner is a puncture-sealing system that offers true sidewall protection, as well as protection for tread areas of your off the road tires. It provides a balanced, uniform thickness of self-healing rubber. It’s also the only available system that conforms to any size and geometry of tire and lasts the lifetime of the tire.

We haven’t had a chance to put it to the test yet so we can’t speak of the validity of the company’s claims but more information can be found via their official site by clicking here.
