Suzuki LT230E - Quadsport trailer hitch question
Did anyone ever think to make this into a tow truck?

Dear ATVC: I have a 1986 Suzuki 230 Quadsport. Did they make a hitch that mounts to it? I am seeing a couple on eBay and just want to make sure before buying it. It appears to go to the front of the frame and uses two handles near the back that mount on either side of the rear near the bracket up top. Any info you could give me would be appreciated.

While it’s possible, make sure you pay very close attention to the letters in the model designation of the listing in question. Suzuki loved the LT230 designation throughout the 1980s, boasting half a dozen different models with the moniker.

In 1986 if you see Suzuki LT230GE / LT-F230, neither of these are the actual Quadsport 230 – instead referring to the Quadrunner variant which, although very similar looking, added racks and an automatic clutch for more utility oriented purposes.

The Quadsport is the LT230S – the frames were similar enough to where an aftermarket hitch may mount up but that manual clutch, lightweight design (309 pounds) and lack of low end torque wouldn’t exactly make it the ideal candidate for towing.

All of this to say, no, Suzuki never made an OEM hitch for the Quadsport 230 but it does look like some aftermarket companies out there made them for the Quadrunner that may also mate up with the 230S’s frame.

By the way, if you’re wondering why there were so many LT230s, we broke down their naming convention here.
