Dear ATVC: Long story short I tried hooking up the new battery in my 07 Honda Recon 250 in a hurry in the dark and hooked it up backwards. I fried the piece that goes in the battery cable with the 2 wire plug that comes out the bottom and each end of the positive cable hook on a separate post on the top. I need to know what it’s called and where to buy it. Thanks! Skippy01

Well here’s the good news- if we’re reading you correctly, it sounds like the OEM Honda classification for this entire assembly would be considered the battery cable. Further proof can be found here on the schematic for your year, make and model.
Assembly
Assuming you are referring to #3 on the schematic, aside from the cable assembly itself ($36.54), all you could have destroyed by hooking up the battery backward at the terminals would be the fuses within the housing. In fact, there is a good possibility that’s exactly what happened. Before you purchase any complete assemblies, it may be a good idea to check these fuses, which, as you can see, are comprised of both 15 and 30 amp units. It appears they sell for around $0.80 apiece.
