Opportunity to upgrade.

Dear ATVC: Looking for a place to buy rear tires for 1994 Yamaha Blaster.

Your Blaster came standard with 8″ rims and a tire size 21×10-8.

That means 21″ tall when inflated, 10″ wide and that 8″ diameter rim.

You can find tires in this size just about anywhere ATV tires are sold. There are dozens of reputable online distributors (Chaparral Motorsports, Dennis Kirk, motosport.com, rockymountainatvmc.com just to mention a few.) We even found several sets brand new in stock on eBay.

If you’re not looking to order, your local Yamaha dealer will be able to get them for you as well.

A word of advice, though, don’t feel obligated to run the exact same size tire as had com e stock. That 21″ tall tire was a relic from an era of ATVing past and had been a known inhibitor of the Blaster’s handling. We had great success running a 20″ and even heard of others going as low as 18″. There are some downsides, of course, such as losing a bit of ground clearance and trading top end speed for greater acceleration.

However, for the most part, there is a reason most sport ATVs have long ago ditched the baloony tire design in favor of a low profile design – this not only lowers the overall center of gravity/ improves stability but it allows the tires to more easily break free for aggressive cornering.
