Ask the Editors: Yamaha Raptor Cover Replacement
Dear ATVC: So recently I purchased a 2010 Yamaha Raptor 250 for very cheap knowing it had problems. The previous owner said it had a tick when running. Upon further inspection I found a hole on the top of my cylinder head that looks like it was JD Welded. Do I have to buy a new cylinder head side cover?
Absolutely – this isn’t a one of those areas where you’re going to want to rig together as a trail-side repair when the epoxy falls off is all but impossible.
We do have some really good news though, the OEM replacement cover is readily available and extremely affordable – Partszilla can hook you up with one here for $8.49. Probably no more than the previous owner paid for the tube of JB Weld.
