ATV Industry Facts: Did You Know?

Meet Azaris; coming straight out of the future to a trail near you.

As we approach the year 2020, it seems like ATVs resembling mars rovers should be all the rage by now.  One new company is testing a prototype SXS with 6 wheels, a high powered BMW engine and enough new tech to make NASA jealous.

Calling it the Azaris, manufacturer Ferox (not to be confused with Xerox) says its creation uses a drive-train unlike any seen before: a backward mounted BMW R1200GS engine sits in the frame with its shaft drive output powering basically a giant hydraulic pump.

From there the water is pushed through lines routed through rockers and swingarms to each wheel directly.  There revolving rim cup hydro-powered motors provide the drive.  The system they claim is 98% efficient, quiet and can then provide forward, reverse and braking detail.  At this phase the machine is 4-wheel drive, with the front wheels just serving for steering and braking detail.

As it is yet in prototype phase, no word on pricing yet but there are videos and information available on their official site here.
