CHAMP Pro SxS Rounds 9-10 Coverage
Hot and humid conditions for the Dirt City Off-Road National.
The Championship Off-Road racers were greeted with scorching hot and humid weather for the Dirt City Off-Road National, and the Pro SxS racing was just as heated as the weather. Pro Stocks were up first, and Jeb Bootle started on the front row and held off Collin Truett in early laps, while CJ Greaves worked through the pack. Greaves got by Truett by the fourth lap and would jump to the lead on the restart after the mandatory mid-race caution. Greaves would take his third-straight Pro Stock win with Bootle second and Truett third. Points leader Owen VanEpren was fourth, and Greaves took over the points lead.
In Pro SxS, Jeb Bootle put his Yamaha up front exiting the 180-degree first turn with CJ Greaves on his rear bumper. Greaves was on a fast pace and soon had the lead, but Bootle didn’t let Greaves get far ahead. Kainan Baker moved through the pack and caught Bootle, letting Greaves pull away as they fought over second. Greaves held on for his second win of the day, and points leader Andrew Carlson didn’t finish, so his points lead dwindled from 49 down to 15.
Sunday’s Pro Stock again saw Jeb Bootle and Collin Truett up front, this time with Truett on point. CJ Greaves again had to work the pack to join the leaders, and the mandatory mid-race caution bunched up the field. On the restart, Greaves shot into the lead with Bootle second. Truett broke with two laps to go, and Owen VanEpren took over third.
In Sunday Pro SxS action, Jeb Bootle and Andrew Carlson took the point, but there was an early full-course caution. Carlson had to hot pit for a flat rear tire, and CJ Greaves moved into second. Bootle and Greaves battled most of the race until Bootle went wide in the 180, and CJ slipped under him. CJ held on for the weekend sweep, while Bootle had to hold off Owen VanEpren, Kyle Chaney, and Kainan Baker. Chaney would settle into second, and VanEpren and Baker broke. Carlson put on a great charge after pitting and moved into third on the last lap.
As hot as CJ Greaves was this weekend in Pro SxS classes, Pro 4 wins eluded the Monster Energy athlete, as Jimmy Henderson won on Saturday and Adrian Cenni held off Henderson for the Sunday Pro 4 win.
