Let’s be honest, ATV riding and the need for a pickup truck go hand in hand. Furthermore, when it comes to said pickup truck, there is absolutely no such thing as too much storage space.

In our quest to simplify our lives while simultaneously finding room we didn’t we know we had, we’ve discovered a product called the Active Cargo System (ACS) from Leitner Designs. It’s a new patented rack system for light duty trucks designed to eliminate the shortcomings of truck racks currently on the market. Its patent pending design not only allows you to carry large items above the roof line, but its center load bar can be slid out of the way to carry large items such as an ATV.

Its “Quad Rail” T-slot mounting technology allows endless accessories to be securely attached allowing complete customization. There are kayak, surfboard, mountain bike, wind surfer and other accessories available to carry just about any recreational equipment you can fathom. But even if other sorting activities aren’t your bag, the rails make for some pretty cool options like removable tie-down rings and even a fold out platform & tent designed to keep you and your sleeping bag way up off the ground (ladder included).

Some other options we were particularly impressed with include the ability to install cargo box accessories- black ones for storing tools, helmets, clothes and so on and color coded fluid containers as well (white for water, red for gasoline).

All-aluminum TIG-welding construction carries with it a total weight of only 65-pounds. Its features include rubber covered load pads to prevent damage to cargo, locking waterproof side-mounted Gear Pods, fuel can mounting plates, stainless steel tie down rings, locking Hi-Lift Jack mounting brackets, Eezi-Awn roof top tent mounting brackets, light brackets and compatibility with many Thule accessories.

The unit retails for around $1,500 and more information (including sizes available for your particular pickup) can be found here.
