According to an actual eBay listing, someone was looking to part ways with a 1986 EZ-Go Marathon with a 2002 Suzuki GSX-R600 engine and dash installed. The bike was good for 115 hp and a top speed close to 160 mph. Not bad in a machine designed for a top speed of roughly 10 mph.
The seller isn’t shy about confessing the unlikely pairing: “This thing is loud, it sounds like an inline 4-cylinder sportbike without much of a muffler, because that’s what it is.”
He goes on to say it gets nervous around 30 mph … about a fourth of what it’s capable of. “I suggest this is only driven by very intoxicated people because in a crash, the drunk is always the one who lives through it.”
At the time of this article’s writing, bidding is up to $3,150, but the seller is hoping to nab $4,500 for this piece of, uh, rolling art. His closing advice is also a gem: “You do not want to put a kid behind the wheel unless you don’t like the kid because he WILL crash it.”
He’s even got a video uploaded to capture some of the effect:
