SCORE Baja 500 Still On For June
The 500 is set to run for 2021.
The 53rd running of the SCORE Baja 500 will be Saturday June 12th, and Covid concerns moves the start from the traditional downtown Contingency area to the SCORE Compound on Libramento Ensenada outside of town. The 466-mile course will start and finish at the SCORE Compound, and Pre-running starts May 22nd at RM32.9. The course snakes east to Lazardo Cardenas and south to Mike’s Sky Ranch, Rancho El Coyote, Meling Ranch, Valladares and then on to San Quintin. Some of the course northward runs along the coast from Camalu towards Colonet then it heads inland to San Vicente, Santo Tomas and Urapan. The first (and last) 32.9-mile section is open for pre-running Thursday June 10th and is only open outbound.
Friday June 11th also has outbound Pre-running of RM0 to RM32.9, and Contingency Row will be at the SCORE Compound, which was moved a mile east of the 2020 Baja 1000 Compound. Racers must be at Tech by 5:00PM. Saturday June 12th is Race Day, and 20 hours will be the allotted time to complete the course, so racers must average at least 23.3 mph. Pro Motos and Quads stage at 5:30AM for the 6:00AM Start. Four-wheelers have a 3.5-hour gap with UTV staging at 9:00AM for a 10:00AM Start. Results will be posted 1:00PM Sunday June 12th. Only registered racers and essential team members will be allowed in the SCORE Compound, but the course is open to spectators.
