Kemp, Texas played host to Round 3.

Round three of the 2023 ATV Motocross National Championship Series, an AMA National Championship, (ATVMX) took place at Underground MX in Kemp, Texas last weekend.

In Moto 1 Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Joel Hetrick would jump out to grab the SSi Decals Holeshot Award and begin to place a gap over the rest of the field. Hetrick would continue to push throughout the moto, crossing the finish line first in the moto. In the second moto it would be Wienen Motorsports/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen earning the SSi Decals Holeshot Award. However, Wienen and Hetrick would begin to battle for the lead with Hetrick making the pass stick.

Hetrick would hold on to take the win in moto two and take the overall with a 1-1 finish on the day. This also puts Hetrick back into the number one position in the points standings after three rounds of racing. Wienen would hold onto second in both of the motos throughout the day, which after having surgery on his collarbone seems like a successful day.

Ford Brothers racing/Fly Racing/SSi Decals/Maxxis’ Bryce Ford would round out the top three overall in his home state of Texas after going 3-3 on the day. Ford would hold down the third place position throughout the duration of both motos. Ford now sits second in the points standings behind Hetrick.

Rastrelli Racing/FXR Moto/Rocket Machine Design’s Jeffrey Rastrelli would go 4-4 on the day to take fourth overall home from round three. Just like Ford, Rastrelli would seem to go unchallenged in the fourth place position during both of the AMA Pro motos at Underground MX.

Rounding out the top five overall in Texas was GennUSA Racing/SSi Decals/CST Tires/Corrosion Specialties’ Nicholas Gennusa after he went 5-6 on the day. Gennusa would hold fifth place for the duration of the first moto, but after a bad start in moto two he would have his work cut out for him as he worked his way up to sixth place to conclude his second moto.

Musick Racing/Déjà vu/Kenda Tire’s Brandon Hoag would have a rough first moto as he finished ninth, however, he would come back to finish fifth in the second moto for sixth overall on the day. Stanfield Motorsports/TDR Motorsports/Impact Solution’s Logan Stanfield would finish seventh overall after going 6-8 on the day at round three.

Finishing eighth overall on the day was ML2 Motorsports/Walsh Race Craft/Maxxis/Yamaha’s Max Lindquist after he went 8-7. JH Racing/FTR Graphics/Fly Racing/Walsh Race Craft’s Westley Wolfe would go 7-9 for ninth overall, and HuntScapes/Baldwin Motorsports/Capital Powersport’s Michael Allred rounded out the top 10 AMA Pro finishers with a pair of tenth place moto finishes.

As the moto finishes were tallied up in the Pro-Am class it would be Mason Jackson taking first overall after finishing 2-2 on the day. Kevin Saar would go 4-1 for second overall in the Pro-Am class, while Blair Miller went 1-4 earning third overall at Underground MX in Texas.

In the Pro Sport class, it would be Brett Musick and Mason Jackson battling back and forth in the motos to take the first and second overall finishing positions. Musick would go 2-1 for the overall, while Jackson went 1-2 for second overall. Joseph Chambers would come through with a pair of third place moto finishes for third overall on the day.

In the WMX class it was once again Kinsey Osborn coming through to take the overall win after going 1-1 on the day. Niamh Shaw would come through second overall with a 2-2 finishing position in Texas. Coming through to earn third at the second round was Ellie Roush who went 3-3. Shaw and Roush currently sit second and third in the points standings behind Osborn.

The next round of racing will take place at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania on April 29-30, 2023. For more information on this event, or to pre-register for the event click HERE.
