Video: Check out the E-Spider
Have you ever seen a spider running across the ground and thought, now that’s a great idea for an ATV platform? No? Us either but that’s exactly what must have happened to Frenchmen Pascal Rambaud, Jerome Arsac and Thierry James. They formed Swincar and from where we’re sitting, appropriately named E-Spider.
Tilting, independent suspension arms provide each wheel with an unrivaled degree of vertical and tilting movement. To the point of being able to conquer 70-degree gradients and traverse 50-degree inclines sideways.
Once it’s on smooth ground, it leans like a Can-Am Spyder.
Hydraulically-actuated 4-wheel steering and braking promise nimble and precise handling.
The E in E-Spider means electric of course and powering the whole package are a 1 or 1.5 kW motor on each of the four wheels.
We couldn’t lock down a price yet but we did find a video of these things in action:
