kazuma 150
#1
Problem is continuing with my kazuma 150. It will idle fine but I cannot hit the gas at all. Then I unhooked the cdi to check for tightness and when I plugged it back in it started to move but it is very jerky with a little backfiring. I had the carb off to clean several times I also have extra chokes (electric) to swap and even tried a different carb from another 150. Bought 4 ngk plugs and nothing seems to work. They hardly have any time on them and I have even changed the batteries. I was thinking the cdi unit went bad but I didn't know if the unit would even start if it was bad. To me it seems like an engine that is missing. I have a good spark. It also did run perfect at one time.Any input would help.
Thanks

There is some advantage of having two the same but at this time one is home the other is in the mountains. What drives me crazy is they were both running fine at first. I didn't find out about the gel stuff in the carb till it was too late. So you know that stuff turns to brown syrup after it sits inside the carb( one weekend down). Cleaned the carbs and used them again for a day no problem. Went back two weekends later down again. John at raceway sent me new chokes so that is how I could interchange them. Still took one home and it ran but only with the mixture screw all the way out. I wasn't ok with this but didn't know what was wrong. Both batteries have died in the process and won't re-charge so I bought good ones on my own. John is sending me a new carb so I'll wait and see if this helps. Thanks again Bill you have helped me before with getting all the oils changed.

If you haven't already, try removing the fuel line from the carburetor and open the shut off to check the flow from the tank. My kazuma had plastic burrs in the tank which lodged in the fuel shut off restricting flow and also passed plastic debris into the carb bowl. Try flushing the tank and blowing out the fuel shut off with compressed air. Also, the electric chokes aren't very functional during cold starting, requires some warm up time - some have gone to a different carb with a mechanical butterfly choke or a primer system. My Kazuma did the same thing the first few rides and the plastic burrs from the tank were the culprit. Best of luck.

two things will help you out, one is use a battery tender, you're never have another dead battery no matter how cheap they are, cost beteen 15-30$, the other thing is always use a fuel additive, this will quit the gas from gunking up the carburator. i use the 88 cent stuff from walmart never had another problem carb problem after using this stuff.
