Great to here the kids are having some fun on it!! These Chinese ATV's seem to be hit or miss depending , make and model. I know the boys have got good use out out 150 cheap chinese quad we have.

Jim, good looking kids and ATVs you've got there. Also looks like an awesome place to ride.

Thanks, she's one of four grown daughters. Just two of the others like to ride but havent got pics of them yet.

Yes it's basically the same as the Tank, but I'm beginning to wonder if there's a difference in which importer gets the better quality. I know of several Hensims and all are excellent machines. Mine was occasionally belching a little gear oil out the vent tubes on the differentials but changing to a better grade of oil stopped it. I've got a friend who has a 95 Polaris 350 4X4 in well kept condition and the JS400 easily runs with it. As a matter of fact I prefer the ride on the 400 over any of the polaris's I ridden. That's what I don't understand bout your problems unless you just happened to get the lemon, but I do feel if you'll work out the bugs you'll have a good machine.

I've heard decent stuff about them also. That's why I bought it but I guess I just got a lemon.

Lemons come in all brands no matter what it is. The sad part is, you can't just return it to the dealer, but that's the main reason for the cheaper price. Personally, I wouldn't look down on it. I've always made things a challenge to prove I can do it, if for no other reason. The thing I appreciate about them is they're basically old school and easy to work on. I'm nearly certain that Yamaha parts will fit, but I will give a guy I know a call monday and see if he can get the parts for you or ask about the yamaha parts. I know he has a good selection of parts on hand because I've been to his place many times, and he seems to know a lot about them. I'm not a brand basher, but personally, I just can't see giving the amount of money they want for the name brands unless you buy used. I bought a used kawasaki quad once and got left with a sour taste in my mouth, so I'm leary bout that.

I have another son in law that rides a yamaha blaster. It's a fast quad and easily runs circles around the 250s we have here. I was riding one of our 250Ds one day when we were all riding and he was having fun passing us then slowing down to do it again. He pulled up beside me and nodded his head like he wanted to race so I nodded back. He smiled and hit the throttle, got about a foot ahead of me and his engine locked up. Luckily we were there to drag his butt the 10 miles back to my shop. I could've swore I heard taps playing lightly in the background while my 250D pulled him home. Now I'm not blasting his blaster nor giving the MICs a thumbs up, it just seemed a bit funny that day. My turn will come some day and he might be pulling me home. Who knows? Anyway, right now I'm in the process of overhauling the top end for him so he can get back to riding.

Hey Jim I'm sure we all have stories about our name brands breaking down. I'm in the same boat. My old faithful TRX Honda 250 started miss firing about 8 miles from home one night (wasn't the plug) in the dark on a trail. Luckly junior was there with his chinese 150 to lend a hand! lol Never did find out why it did that, it needed a lot of TLC so I just sold it as parts are not cheap for them. I could have easily put over a $1000 of parts alone in it to make it dependable for trail rides but I'd still have a 25 year old quad. It served me well though. It was well used, but I worked on plenty over the years. Reringed the engine, carb was off about a dozen times, must have rebuilt the starter a dozen times till I finnally bought an aftermarket one, and I could go on and on. It also needed that boot between then engine and rear swing arm. Yes it could have been all rebuilt however some stuff was no longer available. They had real good engines in those quads but the front suspension was the weak point on them. I bought a used 2005 honda 250 that we are quite happy with. Much nicer "newer" machine than the old 250.

So true on all accounts Sawyer. Anything man made can and most likely will break down at some point. I Always liked Hondas and put countless numbers of miles on them with no problems.
