TaoTao 250 will not idle/run
#1
I have a TaoTao 250 utility atv, it has been sitting in the shed a few months. Engine will not run. Took crab apart, had varnish/gunk in needle, clean reassembled, still will not run.
If I put gas inside spark plug hole, reinstall spark plug, it will run for a few seconds. Is my idle jet or something else plugged up? I can drain gas for the bottom of the bowl, so I know there is gas in the float bowl. I ordered a carb rebuild kit. Would it be better if ordered a new carb for about $34.00? Engine seem like it isn't getting gas. Carb is a PZ27 on a 200/250cc engine. Any suggestions on what is wrong. Thanks.

your jets are plugged. just when you think they're clean, keep cleaning until you can see daylight through every port on the jets, blow with carb cleaner and compressed air, use an oxy/acetylene torch tip cleaning tool to rod out all orifices on the jets, clean again. can you see daylight in there? reinstall and try it. let us know. yeah, you can order another carb, at least you'll have a spare, they're relatively cheap. have fun.........don't get discouraged. patience.....patience...

Found PZ27 rebuild kits for 12 bucks, rebuilt card. Hoever, I did order a new PZ30, bolted up, started right up alot better then the PZ27 carb. Did not have to use much choke like the older PZ27 carb. Now to find a flew screwdriver to set the air/fuel mixture, then idle adjustment. Have to add one more thing, fule cut-off valve, not to mention adding some Sta-bil to the gas. Learn something new everyday. Back on the trails.
Thanks to all on the forum.

i ain't found a small enough screwdriver to get to the mixture screw on these chinese models, it's too close to the jug and crankcase(even with my modified 90° screwdriver). i just adjust the mixture screw while the carb is out and then fine tune it with a long handled pair of needlenose pliers.......hey, it works for me.....good to know your quad is going good.....have fun.........
