Question kick start?

hello everyone,
i have a chinese atv (no idea what brand at all) and it has a connection on the side of the quad for a kick start and i was wondering if all the internals of it will be there and working before i go buy one.... also on chinese motors do the kick forward or backwards because if it kicks back it will be hitting my plastics

and im still a noob on this forum so give me a chance...
thanks

can you post some pics of the quad and then the side of the quad? if you have less than 20 posts, go to your profile and make a photo album.

ok. we'll look for it.....and look on the front grab handle/bumper for a metal ID tag or a sticker on the vertical run of the steering assembly from the handlebars down to the tie rods. there may be a metal sticker or a label that'll tell you what brand the quad is. if not, we can run the VIN.....

if you wrap a rag around the splines, or somewhere else safe to save the splines, you can use channellocks or a pipe wrench and turn it CCW to see. i would think that it should move the engine the correct way to facilitate a start. obviously you won't be moving the engine fast enough to start it, but it should prove that all of the necessary parts in already installed minus the kicker. then, measure the diameter, count the splines, buy a kicker and BAM, there you go......

not sure.....similiar to a BMX, but part of it reminds of some kazuma and some hibird. .

no other markings on engine, crankcase, or ID tags on frame near grab handles? hmm.....

the VIN should be on the lower left hand side of the frame on the underside. 17 alpha-numeric digits.
