Alpha Sports LG50.
#1
My grandson has an Alpha Sports LG50. I cannot seem to get it to run. If i block off the choke, it will start, but will not continue to run. I've cleaned the carb several times. Is it possible to have good compression, but still have bad reed valves? It just doesn't suck the gas through the carb.

when you say you cleaned the carb, you removed the jets and the float/needle valve and cleaned all of the nooks/crannies and the orifices of the jets so as to see daylight through them? have you put a compression gauge on the quad and see what it is reading? thumbs don't count.

I checked the compression and it was 125. I completely cleaned the carb. This quad just doesn't seem to suck the gas from the carb. I took the carb off and while cranking, i put my hand over the intake. It doesn't seem to have much vacuum. I had the reed valves out and they look like new, but i don't know if that means anything. I hooked up a vacuum gauge to the intake and cranked the engine. The gauge fluctuated between 5 and 0 inches of vacuum. I've been a mechanic for 50 years, but have not worked on two stroke engines.
