Default Only Starts with Remote

Hello all, I am new here but have been reading for a few days. Some really helpful threads.

Here is my problem that I am pretty sure involves a kill switch issue, but I am not sure how to figure out which one.

I have a locin 110cc (107?) quad that I picked up from a guy that said it has set for about a year. I change the plug, plug wire, and oil. When I go to start via the start button I get nothing, when I go to start with the remote it turns over, but doesnt' fire. I am getting spark (plug to block).

I was thinking I might try disconnecting the kill switch plug from the CDI, to help narrow it down.

Also, I picked up some starter fluid to see if it is a fuel issue. I will check the start fluid this evening when I get home, but if anyone has had similar issues it would be great if you could chime it.

Sorry for the rambling post

quick update.

The brake Kill switch was messed up, got that fixed. Now it will attempt to start with the start button and the remote.

It fires when i spray a bit of starter fluid into the carb, and will run if i keep giving it gas but it doesn't seem to want to start on it's own nor idle.

Any suggestions?

My first thoughts are fuel related. If your getting spark and engine is trying to turnover I would say there is a lack of fuel being delivered.

Take carb off and clean thoroughly. That is where I would start.

Note: check fuek filter and I have heard of fuel pet **** being clogged - disconnect the fuel line from carb and see if you are getting a steady flow of fuel.

hi have the same engine, having same problems, sorted out carb. mixture screw all way in, ajusted tick over so engine just starts to rock quad then back off a little. cleaned carb, & jet's . engine has a conned mesh air filter. could you tell me about the kill switch. one min it starts ok. then no switch.starts on remote. then engine runing kill switch works. after that switch play's up. strange thing eng tries to start with switch on or off. but then starts on the remote. have looked at switch but not able to see a direct problem. can you help me with this one. thank you very much.

Haven't had much time to mess with this project over the weekend. So still not starting, although I get good fire and a semi run with starting fluid. The kill switch was a brake issue. If you quad is starting on it's own it maybe your starter shorting out. Once I got the brake working properly the kill switched started working. Once I get it running on it's own I will let you know.

From my understanding the remote will override any of the kill switches?

Thank you for the info, will check the brake could well be sticking not been used for some time. when you get to the jet's i used a thin wire on the main jet this cleared the hole out , same with the slow running jet. and dont forget the float neddle if this is sticking the fload will drop but your get no fuel, dont forget the choke lever if thats sticking it wont help. this could be a good time to make a note of the jet size as a later referance.
