I have an oil leak coming from the magneto side cover. I pulled the side cover to make sure it was in time, after rebuilding the top end (piston & rings). The gasket came off for the biggest part, but it did break in 1 place (on the top backside) so I used some gasket sealer to hold it together & help keep it sealed. I've posted 2 pics in ATV photos sect. DavnTaz 14. There are 2 places where the magneto wires are wrapped in rubber (marked in black box) then there is another notch on the bottom back side where it's leaking from (outlined w/red box).
My 1st: question is will a "new gasket" take care of this ? rubber plug to plug this ?
if not 2nd question: is can I try to fill it w/gasket sealer ?
3rd: why is this notch there ?
If anyone can or would enlighten me regarding this I'd be very grateful.
I have some other (same) engines & I don't see any difference, just the gasket, no plug in that area. I don't want to separate them they are intack, complete & running.
